Project Management for approximately 180 nonfiction books per year. With my highly experienced team or researchers- responsible for photo research, rights and permissions, hi res delivery and building photo credit files for books on deadline, and within (or under) budget. Educational books contain 10-60 photos per title and are written for Kindergarten through 12th grade audiences. Book series include six or more titles each, and cover just about ant topic imaginable; such as: Backyard Math, Giant Animals, Step by Step Transformations, Colonial People, California Missions, Deadliest Diseases, Exploring the Ancient and Medieval World, Designing Engineering Solutions, Cultures of the World, Famous People, and Mastering Physics.

1997 – 2012: Manager Multimedia Department
Supervised the procurement of still and motion imagery for all Weekly Reader periodicals, digital publications, posters, and special projects. Managed a staff of full-time, part-time, and freelance media researchers. Personally conducted multimedia research for five Weekly Reader periodicals. Coordinated and produced in-house photo shoots. Reviewed portfolios and assigned US location photographers. Negotiated contracts and maintained excellent relationships with supply houses. Negotiated favorable usage rates for the highest quality imagery within, or below budget. Obtained the proper rights for all multimedia. Catalogued and organized library of owned, assignment and royalty-free multimedia assets.
Note: Scholastic acquired Weekly Reader and the office was closed in May 2012.

Performed photo research and rights acquisition for six Weekly Reader periodicals. Negotiated favorable usage rates with vendors. Ensured safekeeping and return of original photographs and slides to photo sources. Issued purchase orders and process invoices.

Managed over 400 contributing photographer’s accounts, among a stock photo library of over 1 million images. Edited photographer’s submissions. Researched the library for advertising, editorial and corporate clients. Responsible for accounts payable and receivable for Falls Church and Chicago offices.
